Hair Tips: Can I Straighten Real Hair Extensions?
Find out more about the differences between real and synthetic hair extensions.

Lisa Shepherd, our gorgeous hair columnist from Lisa Shepherd Kidderminster, helps our readers solve their hair hassles - for good!

Laura Asks:

What’s the difference between real and fake hair extensions and which is better? I heard you can’t straighten the fake ones.

Lisa’s Answer

The difference between real and fake hair extensions is purely that the real hair ones are made from human hair, and the fake ones are man made fibres. You can blow dry the fake ones but can’t apply direct heat such as straighteners and tongs. You can do everything to the real ones as if they were your own hair. Mono fibre extensions are lighter weight than real extensions so are sometimes a better option for mega fine hair.
